Collection: Live & Learn: Progress Pieces

The MoJo is a place where real people learn new creative skills... and often, learning is about progress, not perfection. Eventually, an Artist's skills will get to the point where they have the perfect sellable product, but there are many learning experiences along the way.

Our "Progress Pieces" used to only go on the shelf in our stock room, and our staff would grab them (they still do), until one of our customers said,

"Why don't you sell those? I want to support progress!"

Purchasing one of the Progress Pieces helps us restock our supplies and make creative skill-sharing accessible. So check out these Mostly, Almost Good, and Good Try Goods , and know you have a hand in helping someone to keep going!

Mostly Good: Small flaws that many wouldn't care about except for our Quality Inspector, who we sometimes question if they even understand art. If you like the fact that a human made your product, this is for you! You can even tell others it has "artistic merit". Well, everyone except our Quality Control guy.

Almost Good: "Is it a little crooked?", "Oh No! It was perfect until you dripped that ink dot on the sleeve." These are some of the comments one might hear when an "Almost Good Progress Piece" is being made. Our customers often say, "I wouldn't even have noticed the drip", "I spill stuff on myself anyway," or "Even the earth is a little crooked" (approx.  23.5 degrees by the way!). If Almost Good is good enough, this Progress Piece is for you!

Good Try: If you have the bravery, dedication, and insanity of a 5th-grade band teacher, who can somehow foresee that the ear-piercing squeal from Johnny's violin will one day progress to symphony quality, these products are for you! There is nooooo denying these are one-of-a-kind. These are often an apprentice's first tries. Like, "How did you get the print sideways and on the back?" kind of try. While these might be something only a mother might buy, we have some customers who specifically collect shirts of this genre and prize them as the early works of a quality screen printer. At minimum, you will have a story to tell...or a nightshirt.
